Type of books: Professional-level, specialized scholarly or scientific monographs are the heart
of our business. Our customers are professors, not their students. (We do not deal in textbooks
or other books used in undergraduate classes.) We particularly favor books from university
presses as well as from such commercial publishers as Academic Press, Birkhauser, Blackwell,
Brill, Cambridge, CRC, De Gruyter, Dekker, Elsevier, Garland, Greenwood, Interscience,
Kluwer, McFarland, MIT, North-Holland, Oxford, Palgrave, Pergamon, Peter Lang, Plenum,
Reidel, Routledge, Sage, Scarecrow, Springer, Wiley, and World Scientific (these are just
examples).
Subject Areas: Books in all the academic and scientific disciplines are of interest, including but not limited to Anthropology, Art & Art History, Archaeology, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Classical Studies, Economics, Education, Engineering, Geography, Geology, History, History of Science, Linguistics, Literature, Mathematics, Medicine, Music, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Religion, Sociology, and Women's Studies.
Date of publication: Many of the books we sell are out-of-print or have become so by the time we sell them, but we are delighted to buy recently published books whenever they are available. Any scholarly or scientific book published in the twentieth (or twenty-first) century is potentially of interest. We're likely to be interested in even older books as long as they are scholarly or scientific, but we are not antiquarian book-dealers.
Languages: Besides English-language publications, we're happy to buy books in German, French, Spanish, Italian, Latin, and Greek. Texts in Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Sanskrit, and other languages not using the Roman alphabet are of interest as long as they have an introduction, commentary, or notes in one of the European languages.

Please understand that we can't buy books from trade publishers (even on "scholarly" topics),
old textbooks, books with extensive underlining or marginalia, conference proceedings,
anthologies for the classroom, mass-market or trade paperbacks, editions of the classics, etc.
